While we are really still in Fall, Winter feels like its here. Already we’ve had snow and a little sleet. In some areas, like New York, there has been over 6 feet of snow. So, having said that, are you really ready for the Winter Storms that may be headed your way?
Here’s a Checklist of 13 items that would probably help you in a storm:
- blanket
- first-aid kit
- flashlight with extra batteries
- candles/matches in waterproof bag or container
- jumper cables – use this link for automatic jumper
- tow rope
- de-icing sand, salt, or kitty litter
- windshield-washer fluid (there are some with de-icer in it)
- snow scraper/brush (preferably a long one to reach across)
- collapsible shovel
- bottled water and snacks/or non-perishable food
- flares
- extra charger for mobile phone (keep this charged)
Now, there are probably more items you could add to this list, but you get the main idea. I have most of these items already in my van all year round (except de-icing supplies). I’ve even purchased a automatic jump starter with air pressure for my tires. The key is to prepare for any road conditions at any time. Simply be wise and safe! HAPPY WINTER! HAPPY TRAVELING!
